Quantum electrodynamics (QED), quantum field theory of the interactions of charged particles with the electromagnetic field. It describes mathematically not only all interactions of light with matter but also those of charged particles with one another. The [course_title] on one hand develops the quantum theory of electromagnetic radiation from the principles of quantum electrodynamics. On the other hand, it explores the main consequences of light-matter interaction in applications like optical spectroscopies and devices.
This course does not involve any written exams. Students need to answer 5 assignment questions to complete the course, the answers will be in the form of written work in pdf or word. Students can write the answers in their own time. Each answer needs to be 200 words (1 Page). Once the answers are submitted, the tutor will check and assess the work.
