The [course_title] course covers scaling laws and the methods of continuum mechanics to biomechanical phenomena over a range of length scales. Subjects discussed in the course are the structure of tissues and the molecular basis for macroscopic properties; chemical and electrical effects on mechanical behaviour; Thermodynamics and Elementary Statistical Mechanics; the structure of the cell, cell mechanics, motility and adhesion; Persistent Chain Model and Cooperativity; biomembranes; biomolecular mechanics and molecular motors.

Assessment

This course does not involve any written exams. Students need to answer 5 assignment questions to complete the course, the answers will be in the form of written work in pdf or word. Students can write the answers in their own time. Each answer need to be 200 words (1 Page). Once the answers are submitted, the tutor will check and assess the work.
