Learn the theories and trends of modern art
The [course_title] course focuses on the theories of art in the modern and postmodern era. The style and patterns used by the artists to apply the tension between fine arts and mass culture will be highlighted in the course.
At first, you will learn about modernity, modernism and modernisation that will be followed by the explanation of mass culture and revolution. You will know about the postmodern French. The course also explains the objects of visual art, such as painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, prints, performance and video. These visual objects will be illustrated in the course through advertising, caricature, comics, graffiti, television, fashion, folk art, and “primitive” art.
The final chapter of the course is entirely dedicated to the present strategies of art and mass culture.
Assessment
This course does not involve any written exams. Students need to answer 5 assignment questions to complete the course, the answers will be in the form of written work in pdf or word. Students can write the answers in their own time. Each answer need to be 200 words (1 Page). Once the answers are submitted, the tutor will check and assess the work.
