In the [course_title] course, you will learn the mechanics of deformation of the crust and mantle. Emphasize will be given on the importance of different rheological descriptions such as brittle, elastic, linear and nonlinear fluids, and viscoelastic. Other major topics covered in the course are Stress and its different representation including Tectonic Stress, strain, Mohr’s cycle and strain, Uniaxial Strain, Dislocation in Elastic Halfspace Model of the Earthquake Cycle, Plates, Fluids, Corner Flow, Time-Dependent Porous Flow, and more.


This course does not involve any written exams. Students need to answer 5 assignment questions to complete the course, the answers will be in the form of written work in pdf or word. Students can write the answers in their own time. Each answer needs to be 200 words (1 Page). Once the answers are submitted, the tutor will check and assess the work.
