Pathology is the branch of science that studies the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes. The [course_title] course illustrates the overview of human pathology with emphasis on mechanisms of disease and diagnostic medicine.
The course covers the fundamentals of Molecular Pathology, Pathology of Major Organ Systems, and Functional and Molecular Imaging. You will also learn about the Cellular Mechanisms of Disease or the defects in molecular and cellular processes that constitute the triggers of specific pathologies. The course reviews the Diagnostic Tools from Traditional Surgical Pathology to Diagnostic Spectroscopy. Finally, you will be introduced to the Molecular Diagnostics techniques which are used to analyse biological markers in the genome and proteome.
Assessment
This course does not involve any written exams. Students need to answer 5 assignment questions to complete the course, the answers will be in the form of written work in pdf or word. Students can write the answers in their own time. Each answer needs to be 200 words (1 Page). Once the answers are submitted, the tutor will check and assess the work.
