The [course_title] illustrates the basic concepts of technology used in the compound semiconductors in electronic, optoelectronic, and photonic devices and integrated circuits. You will learn physics, modelling, application, and technology of the semiconductors. Other topics focused in the course are properties, preparation, and processing of compound semiconductors; theory and practice of heterojunctions, quantum structures, and pseudomorphic strained layers, and metal. The course also teaches about the metal-semiconductor field effect transistors (MESFETs), heterojunction field effect transistors (HFETs) and bipolar transistors (HBTs), photodiodes, and vertical-and in-plane-cavity laser diodes. Finally, vertical-and in-plane-cavity laser diodes and other optoelectronic devices will be covered in the course.
Assessment
This course does not involve any written exams. Students need to answer 5 assignment questions to complete the course, the answers will be in the form of written work in pdf or word. Students can write the answers in their own time. Each answer needs to be 200 words (1 Page). Once the answers are submitted, the tutor will check and assess the work.
