The [course_title] course focuses on the experimental and theoretical aspects of chemical reaction kinetics. You will learn about transition-state theories, molecular beam scattering, classical techniques, quantum and statistical mechanical estimation of rate constants. The course also explains pressure-dependence and chemical activation, modelling complex reacting mixtures, and uncertainty/sensitivity analyses. Apart from these, emphasis will be given on the reactions in the gas phase, liquid phase, and on surfaces. These reactions will be illustrated and explained through examples from atmospheric, combustion, industrial, catalytic, and biological chemistry.
Assessment
This course does not involve any written exams. Students need to answer 5 assignment questions to complete the course, the answers will be in the form of written work in pdf or word. Students can write the answers in their own time. Each answer needs to be 200 words (1 Page). Once the answers are submitted, the tutor will check and assess the work.
