Imagine your life without science or cyber network, can you? In the last century science has grown so rapidly with silicon-based processors, fiber-optic networks and so on that the impact in everyday life is immense.
This course will invite you to explore the social and technical development of computing for the sciences, from the ENIAC on to Amazon’s EC2. You will also learn about assortment of technologies that underlie modern scientific inquiry, investigate their use by U-M cyber-scientists.
This course does not involve any written exams. Students need to answer 5 assignment questions to complete the course, the answers will be in the form of written work in pdf or word. Students can write the answers in their own time. Each answer needs to be 200 words (1 Page). Once the answers are submitted, the tutor will check and assess the work.
