The [course_title] course examines the interaction of radiation with biological material. The course helps you to understand
- how different types of radiation deposit energy, including the creation and behavior of secondary radiations;
- how radiation affects cells and
- why the various types of radiation have different biological effects
Topics covered in the course are the effects of radiation on biological systems including DNA damage; in vitro cell survival models; in vivo mammalian systems; radiation therapy, radiation syndromes in humans and carcinogenesis, etc.
This course does not involve any written exams. Students need to answer 5 assignment questions to complete the course, the answers will be in the form of written work in pdf or word. Students can write the answers in their own time. Each answer needs to be 200 words (1 Page). Once the answers are submitted, the tutor will check and assess the work.
