This is a course that showcase the remarkably wide range of textual and photographic traces of Indian students, activists, politicians, artists in the Bodleian special collections in the period 1870-1950.

From this course you will know the value and meaning of manuscript traces, how they reflect interaction of Indians and Britons in that period and how we are able to imagine the lives of these early Indian travelers to Oxford into these textual tracks and marks.

Assessment

This course does not involve any written exams. Students need to answer 5 assignment questions to complete the course, the answers will be in the form of written work in pdf or word. Students can write the answers in their own time. Each answer needs to be 200 words (1 Page). Once the answers are submitted, the tutor will check and assess the work.

Certification
