Plasma is one of the four fundamental states of matter. It can be created by adding energy to a gas so that some of its electrons leave its atoms and the process is called ionisation. The [course_title] course covers the fundamental concepts regarding plasma such as the motion of charged particles in magnetic fields, plasma confinement schemes, MHD models, simple equilibrium and stability analysis. The course also focuses on two-fluid hydrodynamic plasma models, kinetic theory, Vlasov plasma model, ion-acoustic waves, streaming instabilities, etc..
Assessment
This course does not involve any written exams. Students need to answer 5 assignment questions to complete the course, the answers will be in the form of written work in pdf or word. Students can write the answers in their own time. Each answer needs to be 200 words (1 Page). Once the answers are submitted, the tutor will check and assess the work.
